Meanwhile, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are voting Wednesday to hold Attorney General Barr in contempt for not releasing an unredacted version of the Mueller report.

"The Department's decision reflects President Trump's blanket defiance of Congress's constitutionally mandated duties", Nadler said in a statement.

The House Judiciary Committee is meeting to decide whether to vote to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt for not turning over the full report and certain other materials. The Mueller report was already made public by the Justice Department last month, but the underlying investigative files were not.

He also outlined 10 instances in which the president tried to derail the investigation, including by having McGahn fire the special counsel.

"The White House will not comply with unlawful and reckless demands", press secretary Sarah Sanders said.

Barr last week testified before a Senate committee about his role in overseeing the last stages of the Mueller investigation, but refused to testify before Nadler's panel in a dispute over whether the committee's staff attorneys would be allowed to question him.

Lady Gaga wows on 'pink' carpet at Met Gala with four outfits
The 25-year-old musician and co-host of the annual fashion event was accompanied by Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele . That got only 89,100 shares and likes, followed by Lady Gaga's four outfit changes , which got 82,300 shares and likes.

During Wednesday's meeting, Nadler said the Justice Department was heading in the wrong direction with its "dramatic step" in asking Trump to invoke protective assertion of executive privilege.

Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler said the panel had to act because Trump's stonewalling is creating a "constitutional crisis".

Nadler's committee has subpoenaed the full Mueller report and underlying evidence. "He's becoming self-impeachable", Pelosi told the Washington Post, referring to the impeachment process in Congress to remove a president from office.

President Trump has invoked executive privilege over select contents of the Mueller report.

In 2012, the GOP-controlled House voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for refusing to turn over documents into the botched "Fast and Furious" gun-running sting operation.

This threat looks like an attempt to attach some significant cost to the contempt charge, which otherwise would basically be a free shot for House Democrats but with little real bite.

The Associated Press reported that Omaha Beach , who just turned 3 in April, would undergo surgery in Kentucky last week. At the age of 58, Long Range Toddy's jockey Jon Court became the oldest person to ride in the Kentucky Derby .

"As we have repeatedly explained, the Attorney General could not comply with your subpoena in its current form without violating the law, court rules, and court orders, and without threatening the independence of the Department of Justice's prosecutorial functions", Boyd wrote.

Senator McConnell says Mueller 'case is closed.'

In a speech from the Senate floor, the Kentucky Republican said Mueller became a "secular saint" for Democrats "destined to rescue the country from the inconvenient truth" that President Donald Trump was elected.

"Democrats are angry Mueller did not provide a road map for impeachment", said Representative Doug Collins, the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee. "The Trump Administration's invocation to protect the special counsel report in the wake of a subpoena from the House Judiciary Committee is, however, odd, at least from a legal, nonpolitical standpoint". She noted that Democrats have refused to read the version of Mr Mueller's report with fewer redactions that has been provided to Congress. The White House has rejected all efforts to probe Trump's business dealings or tax returns as well the West Wing's security clearance procedure. The Justice Department rarely pursues such referrals from Congress.

The redacted Mueller report details extensive contacts between Trump's 2016 campaign and Moscow as well as the campaign's expectation of benefiting from Russia's actions. The Mueller report, released last month, did not find that the Trump campaign conspired with Russian Federation to influence the election.
