Valley shops will take part in free Comic Book Day

May the fourth be with you on this Star Wars Day - and also this Free Comic Book Day.

Numerous events will also have custom sketches, sales on other items in the store and plenty of people dressed up as their favorite comic book characters.

Beyond the Free Comic Book Day special, Cristiano and Devarajan have also closed an 8-territory European publishing deal to launch a series of three original graphic novels based on their characters, with the first book launching later this year. And yes, they'll really be free.

Participating stores include Kirwin's in Poughkeepsie and Catskill, Alterniverse in Hyde Park, October Country Comics in New Paltz, The Underground in Beacon, Main Street Comics in Middletown, Haven For Heroes in Port Jervis, Pop's Universe in Germantown and Fairview Books in Hudson.

Known for their pop-up events, Scorch's extravaganza on Saturday (May 4) won't be the first time the shop has hosted genre legends and this weekend of festivities with signing events on both Saturday and Monday (May 6) feature Scorch's best and biggest line-up yet.
