Attorney General Jeff Sessions was pushed out Wednesday as the country's chief law enforcement officer after enduring more than a year of blistering and personal attacks from President Donald Trump over his recusal from the Russian Federation investigation.

Mitt Romney, who won the Utah Senate race on Tuesday echoed Ms Collins' words and wrote in a tweet: "It is imperative that the important work of the Justice Department continues, and that the Mueller investigation proceeds to its conclusion unimpeded". "It is an entire branch of the government and even for those five justices, if they do lean toward the President, to do precedent breaking action makes us look like a banana republic - you could start losing one or more of those five", he said.

Dean said Wednesday that despite the potential implications Sessions' firing could have on the Mueller investigation, he still has faith in the justice system, including the conservative-leaning Supreme Court.

The word "investigation" is clearly defined directly preceding it in the same sentence specifically as coordination between individuals associated with the campaign of Donald Trump and Russian Federation.

Sessions was the first casualty of a cabinet shakeup that had been expected from Trump following the midterm elections. President Trump forced Sessions out as the nation's chief law enforcement officer on Wednesday, one day after Democrats captured the House in the midterm elections.

The announcement set off a frenzy inside the White House, with Trump directing his White House counsel to call Sessions beforehand and urge him not to step aside.

In a CNN op-ed a year ago, Whitaker wrote, "Mueller has come up to a red line in the Russian Federation 2016 election-meddling investigation that he is dangerously close to crossing".

According to a September report from the New York Times, Whitaker was in line to replace U.S. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein when Rosenstein was reportedly considering resigning. "It would create a constitutional crisis if this were a prelude to ending or greatly limiting the Mueller investigation". The investigation is looking into United States allegations of Russian meddling in the election two years ago and any possible coordination between Russia and the Trump campaign, which the president denies.

RS said in a statement that initial reports indicate the attacker was a member of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces. He was a military intelligence officer with Joint Force Headquarters and was expected to return to his mayoral job in January.

"I'd rather answer that at a little bit different time. I wish Jeff and Mary the best of luck in their next chapter, and I hope everyone will join me in honoring his public service to the country", he said.

Trump appointed Kobach to lead his presidential commission on voter fraud, which was disbanded after states refused to turn over data.

Rosenstein has also drawn heavy criticism from House Republicans for not recusing himself from overseeing the investigation, since he was involved in the FBI's investigation of the Trump campaign.

Sessions, a former senator representing Alabama, was among the early loyalists of Trump before the relationship was soured shortly after he took office as Attorney General in 2017.
