Three children killed when struck at Fulton County bus stop

A 9-year-old girl and her twin 6-year-old brothers were struck and killed by a pickup truck as they crossed a northern IN road to board a school bus before sunrise Tuesday, police said.

Alyssa Shepherd, 24, accused of killing three children and seriously wounding one, is facing homicide charges.

All three children who were killed reportedly were from the same family. Identical twin 6-year-old brothers, Xzavier and Mason Ingle, and their 9-year-old sister, Alivia Stahl, were getting ready to board their stopped school bus when an oncoming driver failed to stop. The boy taken to Fort Wayne is 11 years old.

Shepherd was released from jail on a $15,000 bond Tuesday night, according to Fox 59. Slocum said the boy who survived was not related to the children who were killed. "They were holding hands every day on the way to the bus stop including today...it looks like Alivia stepped in front of the vehicle for the boys. We have deployed all school counselors to meet the emotional needs of our staff, students and parents", the school wrote on Facebook.

He urged IN residents to send their "deepest prayers for the strength needed to endure such a time".
