The Duchess of Sussex captured a candid moment while her husband Prince Harry rehearsed for his Invictus Games closing ceremony speech.

The New Zealand trip comes after the royal couple packed plenty into their trip to Australia, Fiji and Tonga, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the Invictus Games, a visit to Queensland's Fraser Island and a ride on one of Melbourne's famous trams.

The super-extra gown that Lady Diana wore when she Wednesday Prince Charles in 1981 inspired a decade of puff-sleeved wedding dresses, while Kate Middleton's iconic 2011 Alexander McQueen dress brought long sleeves and lace back into bridal fashion.

Afterwards, Harry and Meghan joined the Invictus athletes for a group photo, with the Duchess compelled to adjust her dress and coat that kept blowing in the strong winds.

The royal couple are flying into around 3pm, and MetService says they can expect clear skies when they arrive.

They were welcomed with traditional haka performances and a 21-gun salute at Government House in Wellington, New Zealand's capital.
