Megyn Kelly and NBC News Commence Exit Negotiations

Megyn Kelly appears to be on her way out at "Today", according to sources who told The Washington Post that her show will stop airing after her comment about blackface being OK when she was a child.

It's unclear whether she will receive a new role within NBC News or leave the network.

Kelly was hired by the network less than two years ago in a bet that a more combative persona built at Fox News could be softened for the mainstream audience at the 66-year-old "Today" show.

She drew immediate criticism not only from those who worked for outside networks but also from inside NBC - including Today show Al Roker and NBC News chair Andy Lack.

Farrow famously exited NBC News when the division declined to broadcast his report about women's claims against Hollywood mega-producer Harvey Weinstein, claiming it was not ready for broadcast.

The newspaper alleges, citing the same anonymous officials, that China and Russian Federation are listening in on Trump's calls . The Chinese are said to be using information picked up from monitoring Trump's calls to figure out who he listens to the most.

She did not host new episodes of "Megyn Kelly Today" as scheduled on Thursday and Friday. Trump later complained about her questions, saying, "You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes". The reports also suggest that Kelly may be out at NBC altogether.

Kelly had signed a $69m contract that saw her take on a short-lived news show Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly where she interviewed figures such as Alex Jones and Russian president Vladimir Putin.

"Megyn remains an employee of NBC News and discussions about next steps are continuing".

"Some people said that was racist", she said.

Although Kelly may have attempted a fresh start at NBC, she couldn't always escape her baggage.

"Next week, the 9am hour will be hosted by other Today co-anchors". She has accused Fox co-founder Roger Ailes of sexually harassing her. Ailes died in May 2017. "She wants to look like Diana Ross for one day, and I don't know how that got racist on Halloween". "Megyn has used her show to give a voice to women in the #MeToo movement, not fearing the consequences, even if those people were in her own backyard".

"I have never been a PC kind of person, but I do understand the value of being sensitive to our history, particularly on race and ethnicity", she said.

Last September, Kelly caused a furor when she interviewed actress Jane Fonda and quizzed her about plastic surgery. She famously declared on air at the cable channel that both Santa and Jesus were white.

The former star from Fox News had a short, rocky stretch at NBC.
