New clues from 911 call emerge

The Barron County Sheriff's Department is asking for volunteers to help search for evidence related to the disappearance of Jayme Closs and/or the deaths of her parents.

No gun was found at the scene but autopsies confirmed that Jayme's parents had been fatally shot.

"We are hopeful to learn more about the Closs family to help bring Jayme home", Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said in a statement.

He said Wednesday investigators believe she's alive but in danger and he urged the public to continue calling in tips.

Local authorities have said investigators do not believe she ran away and they don't consider her a suspect.

"We have over 200 law enforcement workers on the ground right now", Fitzgerald said.

Deputies responded to the house where they found James and Denise dead from gunshot wounds. The 911 call was placed with a cell phone around 1 a.m. on Monday morning (October 15, 2018), the sheriff said previously, but no one spoke, although unspecified noise was heard in the background.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert for Jayme, who was last seen Sunday at a family event.

"Is it a random attack or is it a targeted attack?"

Police don't know what happened or the motive for the killings, and a murder weapon has not been recovered, according to USA media reports.

He added that "Jayme is out there and we want to find her". No one on the line spoke back to dispatchers, but deputies traveled to the home where the call was made, 1268 USA 8. "I don't know that answer", Fitzgerald told reporters.

Denise Closs' husband, James Closs, had answered the door.

Jayme Closs was reported missing Monday after her parents were founded murdered inside their family home.

The sheriff has said previously that authorities consider Jayme to be an endangered missing person and not a suspect, and he's indicated that finding Jayme is his goal. That's why those leads are so important'. Additionally, he said people may have information and not even realize it.

"Unbelievable, its just something that doesn't seem to happen in our area", said Harold Lehman.

Jayme Closs is 5 feet tall, weighs 100 pounds and has green eyes and blond or strawberry blond hair, the sheriff's department said.
