Tiger Woods shoots 8-under 62 in first round of BMW Championship

Tiger Woods celebrated his return to the United States Ryder Cup team by earning a share of the lead after the first round of the BMW Championship. It was his lowest round since a 61 in the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone, the most recent of his 79 PGA Tour victories. After beginning the day tied for the lead, Woods fell to a tie for 10th five behind leader Xander Schauffele.

"It was nice to make one like that up the hill to get things going", Woods told Golf Channel after the round.

Moments later, McIlroy hit his tee shot at the 165-yard par-3 fifth to within three feet. The sloppy bogey on a birdie hole seemed to be the low point, as Woods fell 1 over for the round and 7 under overall.
