US PGA Championship - Story of day two

Two-time US Open champion Brooks Koepka and British Open runner-up Kevin Kisner flirted with matching the lowest round in major golf history but fell short Friday to leave Gary Woodland in the lead at the 100th PGA Championship.

The 48-year-old Mickelson, who won the WGC-Mexico in the spring, played on his first U.S. Ryder Cup team in 1995 and has made every team since, including two years ago at Hazeltine, where the Americans won for just the third time in his 11 appearances. "I'm not too anxious with what anyone else is doing out there", Woodland said.

"The golf course is gettable", Woodland said. "But today I drove it beautifully, my wedges distance control is very spot on and I was making those five, six-footers that you need to make". If you do that well, and, obviously, in there you're going to make those putts.

"I wasn't enjoying my golf, strangely". The iron game, the distance control this week, has been phenomenal. He rolled in the putt for his fifth birdie in eight holes, which moved him into a tie for third. After a three-putt on 14 he was back to even on the day.

He was always upbeat, positive, kind and caring. "His lovely spirit and his love of life will remain with us", the company said. His employers described him on Facebook as "super outgoing, friendly, and an incredibly smart businessman".

Finau was among five players who accompanied Furyk to France this summer for a scouting trip at Le Golf Nacional, the host course of the September 28-30 Ryder Cup matches. For everyone else who resumed the rain-delayed second round Saturday morning, it was all about staying close to the leader.

Woods missed the green at the 10th, then hit an average chip shot to 5 feet and missed. After pummeling his drive 321 yards, Woodland took aim at the green.

After the third and final stop of his post-round media blitz, at the end of a 13-hour workday in 90-degree heat, Tiger Woods trudged up the steps of the Bellerive clubhouse and into the air-conditioned comfort of the locker room.

The 2-8 PM Eastern window is a limited one, more in line with what the Masters offers on Thursday and Friday, and the PGA doesn't have the Masters' ability to artificially suppress supply in hopes of increasing demand. I'll eat a few meals tonight and then I'll be ready tomorrow, you can be sure of that'.

For the City players meanwhile, the focus is all about Sunday's trip to the Emirates Stadium as the season properly kicks into gear.

At the 17th, after ramming his eagle putt through the break, he missed the 4-footer coming back.

Kenyon also works with Open champion Francesco Molinari, who is five shots off the lead after a 67, with world number three Justin Rose another stroke back following a 69.

"His played beautifully", Woodland said. He drove the ball unbelievably and he gets that putter going quite often. It was nice to feed off that energy. "So it's good to have that energy out there as well".

Kisner also had the chance to shoot 62 after covering the back nine in 29 and picking up another birdie on the seventh, only to bogey the ninth, his final hole of the day.

California wildfires: Death toll to 7 as rapid spread continues
The fires have killed at least eight people, stretching the state's funds and resources thin as firefighters try to gain control. The fire burned slowly for days before winds suddenly whipped it up last week and drove it furiously through brush and timber.

He birdied the next two holes.
