As the US continues to stave off competition and threats from both Russian Federation and China, the White House has decided it will create the US Space Force as a sixth, separate military service by 2020.
"Today, other nations are seeking to disrupt our space-based systems and challenge our supremacy as never before", Pence said as he announced the creation of the Space Force as the sixth branch of the USA military. During the 1980s, in the wake of the Iran hostage crisis and with terrorism an issue around the world, there were proposals in Congress to create a sixth branch to handle "special operations", but the idea was ultimately rejected.
Dodge noted that creating a Space Force now, instead of waiting for the future, would allow the U.S.to "Keep pace with and [go] beyond the abilities of potential adversaries to the United States".
"It is time to write the next chapter in the history of our armed forces to prepare for the next battlefield where the best and courageous Americans will be called upon to prevent and defeat a new wave of threats against our people and our nation "Pence said in a speech to the military at the Pentagon".

The second of those scampers - a 5-yard, red-zone dash on fourth-and-2 - set up Mayfield's 10-yard touchdown toss to David Njoku . Former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield is off to a solid start in his National Football League career.
Pence reiterated the president's burning desire for the armed-forces addition in his announcement, citing Trump's insistence that space is a battleground no different from air and sea. But proponents say the proposal is meant to be a serious response to threats from other nations-including Russian Federation and China-to USA military and commercial operations in space.
Pence announced that the United States will allocate $8 billion for the space force.
Trump announced his plan for the Space Force in June.
Alongside the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, it will comprise the sixth arm of the US armed forces. "Next February in the president's budget we will call on the Congress to marshal the resources we need to stand up the Space Force".
'Bachelorette:' Garrett Yrigoyen, Becca Kurfin talk about future after finale
Horstmann arrived at the final ceremony first (which any " Bachelor " fan knows is a telltale sign). After stressing several times that he did "nothing wrong", Kufrin said something very interesting.
However, Mattis has now endorsed steps to reorganize the military's space war fighting forces and create a new command, the AP reports. It requires congressional approval and has been met with skepticism from military leaders and experts who question the wisdom of launching an expensive, bureaucratic new service branch. Indeed, if this speech made one thing clear, it's that Pence's understanding of the concept of space is truly boundless and expansive. This force will draw from across the military to provide space expertise in times of crisis and conflict, Pence said.
Vice President Mike Pence also expanded on what Trump has said before and vowed to ensure dominance in space.
The Trump campaign has proven itself skillful at merchandising, with their red baseball cap emblazoned with the campaign slogan "Make America Great Again" becoming one of the most omnipresent symbols of the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign. We don't want space militarized, and we've signed treaties to that effect. Funding would have to be appropriated by Congress, something that the defense secretary, Jim Mattis, opposed when it was previously proposed, but he now says he supports the new force.

When asked about the contract, Freeland said the government "looks forward" to hearing from Riyadh about the future of the deal. Local media also reported that Saudi Arabia had been instructed not to transfer its patients to Canada for medical treatment.
