Larry Kudlow attacks China, Xi Jinping and 'mafioso don' local party leaders

U.S. President Donald Trump's top economic adviser accused Chinese President Xi Jinping Thursday of stalling efforts to resolve a growing trade dispute with the U.S.

Kudlow said China could end US tariffs "this afternoon" if it took measures that include cutting tariff and non-tariff barriers to imports.

Trump considers the EU's 10 percent tariff on cars to be unfair compared to the US 2.5 percent tariff, although the United States maintains a 25 percent tariff on pickup trucks.

Earlier this month, the USA and China slapped tariffs on almost 34 billion dollars of each other's imports.

According to Larry Kudlow, "it's possible that a real growth cycle is in front of us for the next four, five, or six years", with the Trump administration's head economic adviser continuing, "this recovery may not be so long in the tooth".

"You have to go and lay your entire blueprint on the table, including the technology, and they will have their experts open it right up", he said.

Hatch said that if the administration "continues with its misguided and reckless reliance on tariffs", he will push for legislation that would "curtail presidential trade authority".

Kudlow also said more tax legislation could be coming.

"At the moment the trade negotiations are kind of stalled", he said, noting he thinks the "president is doing exactly the right thing".

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer last week listed thousands of additional Chinese products that could face 10 percent tariffs - valued as much as $200 billion - as early as September. Throughout it all, Trump has maintained a good relationship with Xi and they are working together to thwart North Korea's nuclear threat, said Kudlow. "We are waiting for him (Xi)".

Kudlow said on Wednesday that Xi was "holding the game up". The ball is in his court.

These included cutting tariff and non-tariff barriers to imports, ending the "theft" of intellectual property and allowing full foreign ownership of companies operating in China, Kudlow said.

Kudlow on Wednesday implied Jinping is refusing to heed Trump's calls to alter China's technology transfer and other trade policies.
