Days after the heaviest exchange of fire between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza since a 2014 conflict, Israel said it was blocking until Sunday fuel and gas deliveries through its only goods crossing with the enclave.

The move was in response to a violation of the ceasefire by the Palestinian terror groups operating in Gaza when they fired a rocket toward southern Israel.

A Ma'an reporter said that four Israeli military bulldozers coming from the Kissufim Israeli military post entered tens of meters into the outskirts of al-Qartara. Fishing along the Gaza coast was also limited to just three nautical miles offshore.

Meanwhile, on Monday evening, Israel announced it would again close the Kerem Shalom crossing, the only crossing for commercial goods and the main crossing for humanitarian aid between Israel and Gaza, after a rocket was sacked into southern Israel earlier in the day despite a cease-fire declared by Hamas late Saturday night.

No Israeli have been killed. "The activity we are engaged in now sends a message that Israel will not tolerate rockets, explosive devices, mortar bombs or (incendiary) kites", Katz said on Israel's Channel 12 TV.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday reiterated that Israel would not tolerate the continued kite and balloon arson attacks that have burned thousands of dunams of forests and agricultural land adjacent to the Gaza border in recent months, including fresh fires started on Sunday.

Israel denies using excessive force against protesters and accuses Hamas, the group that runs Gaza, of orchestrating the protests.

Netanyahu met Monday in Sderot with the heads of the local municipal councils of communities located in the Gaza border area.
