Most recently there has been the updated Snapdragon 850 which is found in the latest ARM-powered Windows PCs, even though these PCs are not on the market yet, it has been revealed that Qualcomm is working on its successor the Snapdragon 1000. The report further added that the Snapdragon 1000 chipset with the codename SDM1000 would be capable of facilitating processing power at par with an Intel U-series or Y-series chipset. There are serious rumors in the market with Snapdragon 1000 giving the devices a boost in their performance. A new report suggests that after this 850 SoC the follow-up chipset would be the new Snapdragon 1000 SoC. Qualcomm's test platform supposedly has 16GB LPDDR4X RAM with two 128GB flash drives for storage. The platform also features Gigabit WLAN and a new power management chip for enhanced efficiency.

It would make the device suitable for a wider range of computing devices, with motherboard manufacturers encouraged to offer Snapdragon 1000-socketed motherboards for PC and gadget makers to make their own computers from, such as low-power desktops and NUC-style compact computers. Machines based upon the SD845 would be approx 25 per cent faster than the previous generation, said Qualcomm. ARM is expected the A76 to deliver a performance similar to U-series Intel Skylake processors.
